Downlining and Trolling for Lake Lanier Stripers.
Report Date: July 22, 2011
Shane Watson Guide Service Report 07-22-11. Our boats have seen great downlining and trolling since my last report. Downlined bluebacks fished 40 to 90 feet deep over a 80 to 130 foot bottom are working well most mornings and afternoons. Leadcore fished 9 colors out with a 1 oz Capt. Mack's or Spro bucktail tipped with a live blueback is working best for trolling. Fish in the mouths of southend creeks and on, and just off the main channel. Somedays we have caught fish on downlines well in the mouths of deeper creeks over the trees and the next day catch them well on leadcore and deeper downlines out over the channel. Keep moving until you find active fish. There are also some stripers over a 40 foot bottom early mornings till the sun gets up high, then move out over deeper water. The trolling bite has been very the last couple days out on the main lake. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, and Carolina Skiff Boats.
