Lake Lanier and Panama City Fishing Report

Report Date: April 20, 2009

Shane Watson Guide Service Report. I spent most of the last week in Panama City and there were plenty of Pompano, Sheepshead, and Spanish Mackerel in and just outside the pass. These fish bit live shrimp, LY'S, and orange football jigs. There were a few Cobia on the beach and these fish bit live eels. While I was gone, I had our boats out on guide trips everyday and they had stripers up to 30 pounds on freeline bluebacks and gizzard shad in the middle to the rear of creeks. Since I got home, I have ran trips about everyday on my boat. We have caught many smaller size stripers in the backs of stained creeks, but all of the bigger fish on my boat the last few trips, have come on big freelined bluebacks, out over a 100-130 foot bottom. All of these open water fish are males and have ranged in size from 12 to 25 pounds. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing.
